We meet each Thursday from 7:30pm until 9.30pm at the Pioneers' Chapel at Wynnum Road, Tingalpa (surrounded by Smiths Snackfoods). After practise, we generally have some supper and a glass of wine together.
We strive to work hard during our practices and we do ask members to work on learning their music during the week, so that our time together can be more about polishing and performance than note-bashing. However, we very much enjoy the social aspect of enjoying a coffee or a drink after our practices and performances.
We seek a commitment from our members to a reasonably regular attendance at practices and performances.
Membership fees will vary according to our needs, but are presently structured to $5 per week. We encourage you to pay a few weeks in advance if your budget permits. Fees cover expenses such as music purchase, business cards, an allowances for the accompanist and other incidental expenses.
Singing in tune is essential and a sight-reading ability is preferred. It is also necessary to have aural skills such as an ability to sing a harmony against the tune, and some knowledge of rhythms and dynamics.
If you would like to join us, please prepare a resume of your details, including your vocal range (eg S,A, T or B), singing experience and ability to read music. Come and spend an evening or two with us and see who we are and what we do. If you like what you see, we will give you an audition.
